The program I wanted to maintain was Kill Monster but as ponders, the idea did not appeal. The game by itself is not what I was hoping for. Hence, I have decided to make a game from near scratch. I can reuse the registration, login and password retrieval scripts from Kill Monster. But the rest will have to go. Including the database tables.

My idea is to make a hybrid game that consists of all the interesting features from all the web games I have played so far.

  • From Kill Monster, the simple login and password entry. What I did not like about Kill Monster is the random fight. The user hardly has a chance to affect the outcome of a battle. Everything depends on that random seed. And the result is always so severe, instant death.
  • From Dragon Knight, the ability to travel from place to place. A map. A world. Traveling may encounter monsters. The bad part is that it took too much bandwidth. Too much information displayed. No multiplayer. Limited spaces for user to store items. No standard template. DK gets boring after sometime, too repetitive.
  • From Script of Saga/Stella Quest, the multiplayer combat system. It involved people to play on. No of items that can be carried can be altered. People can make stuffs. People can choose when to face a monster which can be good or bad since monsters should come after people sometime as well . Cannot travel. Searching stuff is a good idea.

All right, with all these planned out, I will be executing these tasks gradually. So stay tune if you want to know more.
